Recipe "Braised celery and bacon":
There were times when I could not standcelery - I just brought back from its smell. Now I love him very much - and the root, and pedicellate. In principle, a similar story for me and a few other products. But today it is not about them, but about celery. This wonderful vegetable is well-behaved shows in soups and various stews and hot. But not only It is beautiful in itself, just as a side dish. Today, we just will try him in this capacity.
Ingredients 6 servings:
1 large celery root (about 800 g)
1 large onion
100 g of bacon (smoked or smoked boiled bacon)
50 g butter
salt to taste
Celery cut into small pieces of about 6 mm thick.
Onions finely chop, bacon cut into small pieces.
In a saucepan, bring to a boil slightly salted water. Put celery and welds for 7-10 minutes.
Meanwhile, melt the in a frying pan over medium heat oil, put the onion and fry, stirring, for 3-4 minutes. Add the bacon and fry for another 3-4 minutes, until the bacon is lightly browned.
We shift welded celery in a fireproof dish, add the onions and bacon, pour enough water or broth, so that it barely covered the top layer of celery. Season with salt to taste.
Cover with a lid and put in a preheated 180 degree oven and simmer for about 1.5-2 hours. Celery in the end must be soft and the liquid is almost completely evaporated.
You can prepare this side dish no oven - it is quite possible to put out on the burner. However, in the case of slow quenching in the oven, the result will be a bit easier to taste and texture.
